More of Michael Kors Selma: mixed feelings

17 Apr

I guess people at Michael Kors realized how much acceptance the Selma bag had, because they have decided to release a Selma collection.

I already posted about the Selma bag and how much I love it. I am not a girly girl, but I could not resist this bag as girly as it is. Its construction and leather makes it beautiful.

In my opinion the Selma collection has some hits and misses. Tell me what you think!

First, the two-toned medium Selma. I think it is a great idea, especially for younger women:

Joe Fresh Spring 2013

11 Apr

If you are Canadian you are very familiar with Joe Fresh. If not, well you will probably not believe that the brand started selling in a supermarket.

When I moved to Toronto in 2007 I noticed street advertisement showing really cool yet simple clothes. At first it reminded me a bit of a more casual version of Banana Republic. “Joe”, I thought, “Doesn’t ring a bell”. Later that day as I was picking up groceries I realized that Joe lived in the grocery store.  I couldn’t believe my eyes: great designs, good quality and amazing prices.

Apparently, the brand was just released a year before (in 2006). Now, Joe Fresh has standalone stores in Canada and has entered the US market quite successfully, starting in New York.

If you have never heard of it, let me show you what you are missing:

T by Alexander Wang Spring 2013

9 Apr

Alexander Wang is certainly one of my favorite designers. His designs are clean but also fashion forward and encompass New York City style. His bags are, in my opinion, iconic. I am the proud owner of a Kirsten Tote and I know I will rock that bag for years and years to come. Maybe even my daughter will wear it!

I am also a HUGE fan of his T by Alexander Wang line, not only because it is affordable (lol) but also because of the quality of the garments. The Spring 2013 is no exception. I am in love with a few pieces… who knows, maybe I will get something soon :-).

Enjoy!

More Spring 2013 Trends: Snakeskin Patterns

3 Apr

Spring is always exciting. Stores start packing up their shelves with brighter colors and interesting patterns.

Animal prints seem to be a recurring theme. This year, I have noticed that for once, leopard print is not as prevalent as previous seasons while snakeskin seems to be everywhere from designer garments to jeans. Take a look:

I could not help myself: Michael Kors Selma Bag

21 Mar

Oh temptation. I gave in.

Not long ago I posted about the Michael Kors 2013 Spring Collection and stated which my favorite piece was. The Selma bag got my attention immediately. It is beautifully constructed, comes in a variety of beautiful colors, it is made of Saffiano leather (Prada’s bags signature leather) and the price tag is not too hefty.

When I went to the store to see the bag in person I was so shocked to confirm how beautiful it was and that the price was not a mistake (I actually asked the sales person  if it was some sort of mistake). AND it comes with a shoulder strap. So I got it *sigh*. I took a few pictures. Sorry about the quality, I am a terrible photographer and I do not own a professional camera. But hopefully you’ll get the idea:

Kenzo Shoes Spring 2013: Would you wear them?

18 Mar

Kenzo had been flying under the radar for a few years until 2011, when iconic NY clothing retail store Opening Ceremony owners, Humberto Leon and Carol Lim took over as creative directors. Since then, Kenzo designs can be spotted at the streets of wherever a fashion week is happening.

Yes, there is a lot of hype over Kenzo now, and one of their designs has been seen everywhere. Does the kitschy tiger ring a bell?
