Kenzo Shoes Spring 2013: Would you wear them?

18 Mar

Kenzo had been flying under the radar for a few years until 2011, when iconic NY clothing retail store Opening Ceremony owners, Humberto Leon and Carol Lim took over as creative directors. Since then, Kenzo designs can be spotted at the streets of wherever a fashion week is happening.

Yes, there is a lot of hype over Kenzo now, and one of their designs has been seen everywhere. Does the kitschy tiger ring a bell?

Shoe-crush: Christian Louboutin Pigalle

14 Feb

Pigalle SpikesThanks to Solange Knowles I feel in love with a pair of shoes. Again. And yet again, our love is impossible.

At US$ 1,195 the Pigalle Spikes shoes are pure perfection. I can honestly say, I am not a huge fan of Christian Louboutin. Some of his shoes are too wacky and some of them are plain tacky. His classic models though are quite beautiful and flattering on almost everyone.

But these shoes got my attention the second I saw Solange walking down the Grammy’s red carpet in them. The color, the spikes, the pointy toe… they’ve got it all. They are so kick-ass and elegant at the same time.

I cannot justify such a purchase, I just can’t. That is the reason why we will never be together. Maybe in a few months, Jeffrey Campbell will come up with a substitute and maybe I will go for it. But deep down in my heart, I will know it is not the same. I will pretend I love them for a while, take them out for a walk and shortly after get bored and probably dump them. Literally. Geez, I am getting so ahead of myself….

If you have the funds, you can get them at, or

Canadian brand: Danier(‘s got it going on!!!)

4 Feb

How cool is that college jacket?

Leather has been a go-to material for most major design houses since well, forever. Leather items can be ridiculously pricey and almost unreachable for most of us. It is not only the craftmanship that plays a part in the price, but the material itself is expensive.

I don’t know about you, but I love leather clothes. I like all my shoes and bags to be leather, not only because of the looks, but also for the long-lasting factor. Even those who are all about going green have to admit that pvc bags just do not cut it.

Luckily, Canada has Danier, a designer, manufacturer and retailer of quality leather and suede for women and men. They have been operating for decades and they know how a leather piece needs to look and feel like, in order to be luxurious. The twist is, their prices are SO affordable!!!

Here are a few of my favorite pieces of the season; you will certainly notice some designer-inspired models especially in the handbags:

Investment piece: Theysken’s Theory Taylor boots

28 Jan

I am all about great investment pieces. I do not get those frequently, for obvious reasons (they tend to be quite expensive), but when I do I am very careful. In the past I have spent ridiculous amounts of money in pieces that end up being too “right now” and a year after end up looking dated, like those crazy Irregular Choice Angel ankle booties that I do not wear anymore.

Well, after a few misses I have learned my lesson. Now I go for classic and timeless as opposed to crazy and flashy. Don’t get me wrong, I still get some of those, but only if the  price is irresistible or if I find a good and cheaper alternative (i.e. Jeffrey Campbell keeps making knock-offs of, well, every major shoe brand).

This was my last purchase:

These booties are the Theysken’s Theory Taylor, and they are so kick ass! They remind me of the 90’s. The craftmanship is fantastic and I can wear them with everything, from dresses to skinny jeans. I have to say, they fit a bit tight, but I am sure they will give in. And best part is, I got them on sale 😉

Have a great week!
