Cute trend: animal sweaters

31 Jan

How cute is this trend? The first time I saw someone wearing an animal sweater was Kate Bosworth. I have to say, I just LOVE this girl’s style. She always nails it and looks effortless. Seriously, how does she do it? She is wearing Burberry on this picture:

Gotta love The Outnet

29 Jan

For those who love quality designer pieces a great prices, The Outnet is one of their go-to websites. Well, at least it is one of mine. Armed with tons of patience (you cannot possibly like everything, right?) and ready to  disregard bad, BAD styling, you can find amazing pieces at reasonable prices. They happen to have a great selection right now, that could work perfectly for spring. I have compiled a few of my favorites below:

Investment piece: Theysken’s Theory Taylor boots

28 Jan

I am all about great investment pieces. I do not get those frequently, for obvious reasons (they tend to be quite expensive), but when I do I am very careful. In the past I have spent ridiculous amounts of money in pieces that end up being too “right now” and a year after end up looking dated, like those crazy Irregular Choice Angel ankle booties that I do not wear anymore.

Well, after a few misses I have learned my lesson. Now I go for classic and timeless as opposed to crazy and flashy. Don’t get me wrong, I still get some of those, but only if the  price is irresistible or if I find a good and cheaper alternative (i.e. Jeffrey Campbell keeps making knock-offs of, well, every major shoe brand).

This was my last purchase:

These booties are the Theysken’s Theory Taylor, and they are so kick ass! They remind me of the 90’s. The craftmanship is fantastic and I can wear them with everything, from dresses to skinny jeans. I have to say, they fit a bit tight, but I am sure they will give in. And best part is, I got them on sale 😉

Have a great week!

The curious case of the Cambridge Satchel Company bag

25 Jan

Green and navy

It takes Torontonians a while to embrace new trends and when they finally do, it feels like it is a little too late. At least that is how I see things. For instance, I had my hair ombred two years ago almost, and the other day my new hair dresser told me that the trend is long gone and that he’d been doing it since 2005. Jeez, I only got my ombre hairin 2011.

It never ceases to surprise me the shocked stares I get from people every time I wear my Cambridge Satchel Company bag. I mean, I get it, it is super bright, but the neon trend is nothing new either. Some girls stop me in the street to ask me where I got it. Some other make snarky remarks. Continue reading

Aritzia is on sale NOW!

24 Jan

I am pretty sure that most Canadian fashion loving gals know this, but I need to bring it up regardless: Aritzia is on sale. And I am not talking about their so-called sales where they offer C$2 to C$5 off. No. This time, the discounts range from 20% to 70%, in some cases.

I have always been a big Aritzia fan. I find the pieces they sell great and I totally dig the vibe they are going for… Although I have to admit, sometimes I feel a bit out of place in the store since the “Aritzia Girls” (sales associates and customers) are probably in their teens and early twenties… LOL

Anyways, I have compiled a few of my favorite pieces. You should totally check the website out, if you are errrrrr “older” than the Aritzia babes and prefer to do online shopping 😉

Pamela Love 2013: Maia

23 Jan

When it comes to jewelry my taste is very specific. I like silver, chunky, bold pieces. By far, my favorite jewelry designer is Pamela Love. Her pieces are just to die for. They are strong and unique, yet feminine. I just like her very distinctive style. Too bad her pieces are just too… expensive :-(. Anyways, this is a preview of her new collection.

It seems that the new collection is softer, leaving behind the very aggressive daggers and arrows and skulls and talons that I still covet.
